  1. Saute/fry onion, carrot, celery in oil. When limp, add in to split pea mix. Cook the water, peas, and vegetables over low heat till soft and desired thickness. Heat the 1 tsp. oil in a small fry pan, when warm add in the spices and cook briefly, till they give off aroma. Add in to the above mix. Serves 4 to 6.
