  1. (I now use self-rising meal and omit baking pwdr). Preheat oven to 400 degrees and heat butter in 1 1/2 qt casserole dish. (Do not let burn). Pour boiling water over meal, salt and baking pwdr, stir, add in lowfat milk. Add in beaten Large eggs to mix, add in melted butter and stir - pour into hot casserole dish. Return to oven and bake for 1 hour. (The first solid food I ever ate was salt herring roe mixed in this spoon bread.)
