Ingredientes
- Heerings, cut into filets, but leave skin on Wheat flower Butter
- 2 c. White vinegar
- 1 c. Sugar
- 1/2 c. Water
- 2 x Onions, sliced in rings A nip of salt Black pepper to taste

- Here is a traditional recipe for danish fried and pickled heering. I dont know if it is something like this you are referring to.
- Cut Heering(s) into filets, but leave skin on. Turn filets in wheat flower and fry in butter till light brown and done.
- make marinade : 2 c. white vinegar, 1 c. sugar, half a c. water, 2 onions in rings, a nip of salt and black pepper to taste. mix marinade in bowl till sugar is dissolved.
- Put fried heerings into marinade and let sit in fridge overnight. Enjoy heering (without the marinade) with fresh onion rings, dark bread, beer and aquavit.
- If you as a chile head prefer to add in a dry chile or possibly two to the marinade, you will probably enhance the pleasure.
