- 1/4 cup tomato ketchup (banana ketchup would come out sweeter)
- 1-1/2 tablespoons

- 400 grams spaghetti
- Parmigiano Reggiano or Parmesan, grated

,%20chips,%20ice%20cream%20or%20spaghetti.%20Sweet%20spaghetti%20with%20ketchup,%20ground%20meat%20and%20hotdogs.%20That's%20how%20I%20remember%20it.%20It's%20not%20really%20my%20choice%20of%20pasta%20but%20it%20did%20hold%20fond%20memories%20and%20for%20the%20life%20in%20me,%20I%20started%20to%20miss%20it%20just%20a%20few%20weeks%20ago.%20I%20don't%20know%20why,%20but%20I%20seriously%20did.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilipino-style%20spaghetti%20sauce%20is%20normally%20slightly%20sweet,%20because%20it's%20like%20how%20everyone%20prefers%20it.%20Recipes%20in%20every%20home%20vary%20like%20my%20Mom's%20spaghetti%20would%20always%20have%20finely%20chopped%20bell%20peppers%20and%20ground%20beef%20(but%20no%20hotdogs).%20There%20are%20some%20who%20put%20hotdogs%20and%20ketchup%20and%20kids%20love%20them!%20The%20only%20ingredient%20that%20never%20changed%20and%20will%20never%20change%20either,%20is%20the%20kind%20of%20pasta%20used.%20It%20will%20always%20be%20spaghetti.%20And%20for%20that%20every%20Filipino%20would%20simply%20call%20it%20spaghetti%20and%20this%20is%20the%20exact%20dish%20that%20they%20mean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20guessing%20that%20this%20sudden%20craving%20sprouted%20from%20the%20sudden%20number%20of%20recipes%20I%20recently%20created%20with%20hotdogs.%20I%20did%20propose%20it%20to%20my%20kids%20more%20than%20once%20but%20they%20looked%20at%20me%20like%20I%20sprouted%20antlers.%20No%20way%20Mom,%20that%20doesn't%20sound%20good!%20And%20I%20didn't%20even%20tell%20them%20that%20it%20actually%20uses%20banana%20ketchup.%20I%20took%20a%20bottle%20home%20once%20and%20they%20pushed%20the%20bottle%20back%20to%20me.%20I%20took%20it%20as%20a%20NO.%20The%20sorry%20little%20bottle%20just%20expired%20in%20the%20cupboard%20and%20ended%20up%20in%20the%20bin.%20In%20spite%20of%20my%20kids'%20refusal%20to%20have%20spaghetti%20with%20hotdogs,%20I%20went%20with%20my%20plan%20anyway%20because%20I%20had%20all%20the%20ingredients%20last%20weekend.%20I%20had%20an%20open%20pack%20of%20hotdogs%20that%20had%20to%20be%20cooked.%20As%20for%20the%20ketchup,%20I%20used%20what%20we%20have,%20the%20regular%20one%20made%20with%20tomatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn't%20Google%20any%20recipe.%20I%20just%20put%20together%20the%20ingredients%20like%20how%20I%20remember%20the%20spaghetti%20in%20the%20Philippines.%20Adding%20smoked%20pancetta%20(or%20bacon%20outside%20Italy)%20gave%20it%20a%20nice%20smoky%20flavor%20which%20I%20will%20never%20take%20away.%20I%20loved%20it!%20When%20I%20served%20it%20for%20lunch,%20I%20was%20waiting%20for%20the%20usual%20complaints%20from%20my%20kids%20but%20after%20a%20few%20minutes%20of%20silence,%20reluctant%20requests%20for%20hotdogs%20came%20out%20(they%20were%20against%20hotdogs%20in%20the%20first%20place).%20My%20son%20had%203%20heaping%20servings%20and%20my%20daughter%20finished%20her%20pasta%20without%20giving%20problems.%20And%20the%20verdict?%20My%20son%20declared%20that%20it's%20the%20best%20food%20he%20has%20ever%20had,%20EVER.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn't%20mean%20to%20blog%20about%20it%20but%20since%20I%20don't%20want%20to%20forget%20the%20recipe%20and%20my%20son%20loved%20it%20to%20high%20heavens,%20I%20retraced%20what%20I%20did%20last%20weekend%20and%20did%20another%20batch%20of%20Filipino-Style%20Spaghetti%20With%20Hotdogs.%20For%20the%20second%20time%20this%20week,%20we%20had%20my%20school%20spaghetti%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%20Recipes:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilipino-Style%20Sweet%20Spaghetti%20With%20Hotdogs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20saucepan%20over%20medium%20heat,%20warm%20up%20the%20extra%20virgin%20olive%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20oil%20is%20hot,%20add%20the%20onions.%20Toss%20for%201%20minute%20then%20add%20the%20bacon.%20Cook%20until%20lightly%20toasted,%20about%203%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20ground%20meat%20and%20the%20hotdogs%20then%20cook%20until%20the%20color%20of%20the%20beef%20completely%20changes,%20about%2010%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20canned%20tomatoes,%20water,%20ketchup%20and%20sugar.%20Let%20it%20boil%20then%20partially%20cover%20and%20simmer%20on%20low%20heat%20for%2045%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20meantime,%20while%20waiting%20for%20the%20sauce%20to%20cook,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecook%20the%20spaghetti.%20In%20a%20tall%20saucepan,%20over%20high%20heat,%20boil%20some%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewater.%20When%20the%20water%20boils,%20add%20some%20salt%20then%20the%20spaghetti.%20Cook%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Espaghetti%20according%20to%20the%20number%20of%20minutes%20suggested%20in%20the%20package.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeason%20the%20sauce%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper%20then%20cook%20for%20another%2015%20minutes.%20If%20the%20sauce%20is%20drying%20up,%20add%20some%20hot%20water%20from%20the%20water%20you%20are%20boiling%20for%20the%20spaghetti.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20the%20spaghetti%20is%20cooked,%20combine%20it%20with%20the%20sauce%20in%20the%20saucepan%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20already%2
