- The basic ratio for these margaritas is 3 parts tequila to 2 parts sour mix.
- Make the Simple Syrup: Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat, and simmer for 1 minute, till the sugar has dissolved. The mix can be stored refrigerated in an airtight container indefinitely. (
- Makes about 1 c.)
- Make the Sour Mix: Combine all ingredients in a jar. Cover, and shake to combine. Store, refrigerated in an airtight container, for up to 3 days. (Makes 3 1/2 c.)
- Spread salt in a small rimmed plate. Run a wedge of lime around rim of serving glasses. Dip glasses into salt to coat edges. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add in tequila, sour mix, and Cointreau. Shake to combine. Pour margaritas into salt-rimmed glass. Squeeze a wedge of lime over top, discarding lime wedge; don't stir. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge, and serve.
