Receta Orange Pecan Cake
A wonderful cake from a bakery that was in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina.
Ingredientes
- Cake:
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 & 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 cups SELF RISING flour
- 2 Tablespoons grated orange peel
- 1 cup broken pecans
- Sauce:
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 Tablespoons orange rind
- 1 cup orange juice (fresh is best)
Direcciones
- Cake Directions:
- Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs one at a time.
- Dissolve soda in buttermilk
- Add sifted flour to the butter mixture in about 3 parts alternately with buttermilk and soda.
- Beat the batter until it is smooth after each addition.
- Add orange rind and nuts, mix well.
- Bake in a tube pan 1 & ½ hours at 325°.
- Sauce Directions:
- Mix the sauce ingredients and heat making sure the sugar is dissolved.
- When cake is done make holes all over the cake using a toothpick or ice pick.
- Loosen sides of cake with a knife so the sauce goes all over the cake top and sides.
- Mix the sauce and heat before pouring over the cake as it will dissolve better.
- Pour sauce over in small amounts until all the sauce is used.
- Cake should stand overnight before cutting.
