  1. Heat 3 Tbsp. butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add in onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Saute/fry till onion is transparent; remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease a 2-qt baking dish.
  3. Drain potatoes and layer in baking dish alternately with onion mix, salmon, Gruyere cheese and Parmesan cheese, ending with potato slices. Dot with remaining 1 Tbsp. butter.
  4. Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 min. Remove foil and continue to bake till the potatoes are tender, approximately 15 min. Set aside for 10 min to allow cheese to set.
