  1. Dry roast the flaked rice in a kadai or possibly wok till crisp.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and add in the mustard seeds.
  4. When they crackle add in all the other ingredients except the sugar and salt.
  5. Fry for a minute stirring all the while.
  6. Add in the roasted rice sugar and salt and mix well.
  7. Stir a couple of times take off the heat and cold completely.
  8. Store in an airtight jar and use as required.
  9. Consume within a month as it loses its crunch with keeping.
