  • 1 pkt dry green split peas - (16 ounce) rinsed
  • 1 x hambone or possibly 2 meaty hamhocks
  •     or possibly 2 c. diced ham
  • 3 x carrots peeled, sliced
  • 1 med onion minced
  • 2 x celery ribs with leaves minced
  • 1 x garlic clove - (to 2) chopped
  • 1 x bay leaf
  • 1/4 c. fresh parsley minced, (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1 1/2 quart warm water

Direcciones

  1. Layer ingredients in slow cooker, pour in water. Don't STIR. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 to 5 hrs or possibly on LOW 8 to 10 hrs till peas are very soft and ham falls off bone. Remove bones and bay leaf. Serve garnished with croutons. Freezes well.
