  1. Grease a 1 litre pudding basin then spoon 4 Tbsp. of syrup into the base.
  2. Mix the flour, breadcrumbs, suet and baking pwdr in a large bowl then add in the remaining syrup, egg and lowfat milk, mixed with the bicarbonate of soda and beat thoroughly till proportionately mixed.
  3. Transfer to the pudding basin and cover with buttered greaseproof paper and then foil. Steam for 2 hrs till risen and hard to the touch. Serve with lashings of custard!
