  1. Soak Arame in water to cover for 5 min and strain. Keep the water.
  2. (N.B. Like lentils and other light beans, adukis don't need really need soaking, however for improved digestibility wash and soak with Kombu for 2-5 hrs.
  3. Place Kombu in the bottom of the pot and add in Aduki beans and water. Bring to boil and then simmer till beans are tender (approx. 30 min). While cooking, you may need to add in cool water a few times but don't stir beans! )
  4. When beans are tender add in minced hard winter squash making sure which the beans are still covered with water. Cover and cook for 20 min or possibly till squash is tender.
  5. Add in presoaked Arame Sea Vegetable and water during the last 10 min of cooking.
  6. Using a wooden spoon, mix the squash into the beans and arame, add in shoyu/tamari.
  7. (If squash is not available substitute onions, carrots or possibly parsnips.)
