Receta Chewy Orange Almond Cookies

Ingredientes
- 4 1/4 ounce sliced almonds - (abt 1 1/4 c.)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour Finely-grated zest of 2 oranges (abt 4 tbspns)
- 1 tsp anise seeds crushed
- 3 lrg egg whites room temperature
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp. confectioners' sugar

- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, and set aside.
- In the bowl of a food processor, blend 3 1/2 ounces almonds (about 1 c.) with 1/2 c. sugar till almonds are finely grnd. Transfer almond mix to a medium bowl. Stir in flour, orange zest, and crushed anise seeds.
- Using an electric mixer, whisk egg whites, salt, and remaining 1/4 c. sugar to soft glossy peaks. Fold egg-white mix into dry ingredients till just blended.
- Spoon level Tbsp. of batter 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Using remaining 3/4 oz almonds, arrange 3 sliced almonds on each cookie. Sift confectioners' sugar over cookies. Bake till cookies are lightly browned along edges, about 12 min. Cold slightly before removing from sheets with a spatula.
