  1. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add in large eggs and vanilla and beat well till fluffy. Heat chocolate in hot water over low heat. Blend thoroughly and cool slightly.Gradually add in to creamed mix. Add in sifted dry ingredients alternately with lowfat milk. After each addition, mix till just smooth. Pour into waxed paper-lined 8-inch round layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min.
  2. Boil in double boiler till thick; add in nuts and vanilla. Spread between cake layers or possibly if making a loaf cake, spread on and top with chocolate frosting.
  3. Stir constantly over medium heat till it comes to a rolling boil. Boil 2 min, stirring constantly. Remove from fire and beat. Spread on cake and eat!
