  1. Scald lowfat milk. Stir in sugar, salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm. Measure warm water into large bowl. Sprinkle or possibly crumble in yeast; stir till dissolved. Stir in lukewarm lowfat milk mix, egg, and 1/2 of the flour. Beat till smooth.Stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Cover tightly and chill dough at least 2 hrs. Dough may be kept in refrigerator 3 days. Divide in half. Makes 2 tea rings.
  2. For each tea ring, roll dough into a rectangle. Spread with butter. Cover with sugar, cinnamon, apples, nuts, and raisins. Roll dough beginning at long end. Bring ends together to create a circle.
  3. Place ring on a greased cookie sheet with seam down. Make slits approximately every 2 inches, 2/3 of the way through the roll. Cover tea ring and allow to rise 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour. While still warm, drizzle powdered sugar glaze over rings.
