  • 1 Keebler ready crust graham cracker pie crust
  • 1 lg. egg yolk, slightly beaten
  • 5 1/2 c. sliced, cored, peeled cooking apples
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice (omit if apples are tart)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar, finely packed
  • 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 c. butter, at room temperature

Direcciones

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush bottom and sides of crust proportionately with egg yolk - bake on cookie sheet till light brown - about 5 min. Remove crust from oven. Combine apples, lemon juice, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 3 Tbsp. flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust. Mix remaining ingredients with fork or possibly pastry blender till crumbly. Sprinkle topping mix proportionately over apples. Bake on cookie sheet till topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling, about 50 min. Cold on wire rack. Serve at room temperature. Serves 8.

    I used this recipe for Thanksgiving pies, and it works pretty well, although I had to use flour to get the topping to mix right.

        I was 17 years old the first time I used this recipie. This became the only apple pie we ate at Thanksgiving. I now have a 13 year old who has never tasted this pie. I hope to recreate the magic for Easter holiday.
