Ingredientes

  • 2 1/2 c. All-purpose flour (up to 3)
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Grated lemon peel
  • 1 pkt FLEISCHMANN'S RapidRise Yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. Butter or possibly margarine, cut into pcs
  • 1/4 c. Water Date-Nut Filling (recipe follows)
  • 1 x Egg, lightly beaten Powdered Sugar Frosting, optional (recipe follows)
  • 3/4 c. Imported minced or possibly snipped pitted dates
  • 3/4 c. Grnd walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp SPICE ISLANDS Grnd Cinnamon
  • 1 c. Powdered sugar, sifted
  • 4 tsp Lowfat milk (up to 5)
  • 1/2 tsp SPICE ISLANDS Pure Vanilla Extract

Direcciones

  1. Makes 1 loaf.
  2. In large bowl, combine 1 c. flour, sugar, lemon peel, undissolved yeast, and salt. Heat lowfat milk, butter, and water till very hot (120 degrees to 130 degrees F); stir into dry ingredients. Stir in sufficient remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead on floured surface till smooth, about 4 min.
  3. Cover; let rest on floured surface 10 min.
  4. Roll to 15- x 10-inch rectangle. Spread Date-Nut Filling over dough to within 1/2 inch of edges. Beginning at long end, roll up tightly as for jelly roll. Healthy pinch seam and ends to seal. Place roll, seam side down, on greased baking sheet. Curve ends to make horseshoe shape. Cover; let rise in hot, draft-free place till almost doubled in size, about 30 to 45 min. Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 min or possibly till done. Remove from sheet; let cold on wire rack. Frost with Powdered Sugar Frosting, if you like.
  5. Date-Nut Filling: In small bowl, combine 3/4 c. imported minced or possibly snipped pitted dates, 3/4 c. grnd walnuts, and 1/2 tsp. SPICE ISLANDS Grnd Cinnamon. Stir well.
  6. Powdered Sugar Frosting: In small bowl, combine 1 c. powdered sugar, sifted; 4 to 5 tsp. lowfat milk; and 1/2 tsp. SPICE ISLANDS Pure Vanilla Extract. Stir till smooth.
