Receta Italian meatballs
The quality of your ingredients will make or break the dish you are preparing. The key to these meatballs are the types of meat and bread you use to make them. These are called Italian Meatballs because this recipe is a family recipe and you guessed it, it came from an Italian family. Mia Famiglia!
Ingredientes
- 1/2 pound each of ground pork, ground veal and ground beef
- 1, 3 inch piece of Italian bread, soaked in water until soft
- 1 small onion, chopped\1 egg
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp of salt and pepper (or to taste)
- 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
Direcciones
- Pre-heat a non-stick frying pan on the stove to medium heat. Add about 1 tbsp of olive oil to the pan.
- Squeeze out water from bread and add it into a large bowl. To the bread, add the rest of the ingredients listed. Mix together well.
- Roll meat mixture into 1-2 inch balls.
- Fry until well browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes each side. Turn the meatballs on all 4 sides to brown.
- Add to your gravy and simmer for 2-4 hours, the longer they simmer, the better they will taste.
- Tip: Only add the meatballs you will be eating into your grave (sauce). Freeze the rest in a plastic zip top bag for later use.
