Great for any meal of the day, this is what I think of when I think of "quiche". I prefer mine warm from the oven, cooled just enough to slice.
To serve at a tea party, consider using individual tart shells or a mini-muffin tin to make bite-sized servings.

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Spread bottom of pie shell with butter and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Fry bacon until crisp and drain on paper towel. Crumble bacon and sprinkle in bottom of pie shell.
  4. Sprinkle grated cheese over bacon.
  5. In bowl, beat eggs with cream, salt, nutmeg, cayenne, and black pepper until mixture is well combined but not frothy. Pour egg mixture into pie shell.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, or until top is golden and center is firm.
  7. Let cool on wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
