  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour or gluten-free all-purpose flour blend
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup bold red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, or Syrah
  • 1/3 cup whole milk or half and half
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla paste or pure vanilla extract
  • Mascarpone Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup (8 oz) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup chilled heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp plum liqueur, espresso, or rum, optional
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste or pure vanilla extract
