  • 3/4 pound sweet or possibly warm Italian sausages
  • 1 med. onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped or possibly pressed
  • 1 can (20 3/4 ounce.) pork and beans in tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp. tomato juice or possibly water
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili pwdr

Direcciones

  1. Remove sausages from casings. Crumble into large skillet. Cook, stirring, till browned. Drain, reserving 1 Tbsp. fat. Put fat into skillet. Add in onion and garlic. Saute/fry till onion is tender. Stir in sausage, beans, tomato juice and chili pwdr. Turn into greased shallow 1 1/2 qt baking dish.
  2. Tamale topping: in bowl mix 2/3 c. buttermilk baking mix, 1/3 c. yellow cornmeal and 1/2 tsp. chili pwdr. Add in 1 egg and 1/4 c. lowfat milk. Stir only till dry ingredients are moistened.
  3. Spoon Tamale Topping around edge of dish. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 min or possibly till topping is golden brown.
