Receta SOS
This is a simple recipe that my dad used to make for us. For a while My parents fell on hard times and this one was a meal they could afford so we ate it often. It can be served on Texas Toast or mashed potatoes. Personally I like it on Mashed potatoes.
Ingredientes
- 6 medium potatoes cut into quarter size pieces
- 2 pkg white gravy mix (prepared as directed)
- 1 lb breakfast sausage, 1 pkg budding lunchmeat or 1 lb hamburger meat (your choice).
- 1 tbsp dried onions or one small fresh onion diced
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk, sour cream or evaporated milk (whichever you have on hand)
- 3 tbsp butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- enough water to cover potatoes.
Direcciones
- Peel and cut potatoes. In a large pot boil potatoes until tender for mashed potatoes.
- while potatoes are cooking heat a skillet if using hamburger or breakfast sausage mix in onion with either of these, cook over medium heat until cooked thru, drain and
- rinse( skip this step if using budding lunch meat).
- Make gravy according to package directions.
- Once gravy is thick combine gravy with the meat you decided to use.
- Once potatoes are tender enough; drain.
- In a large bowl combine butter, milk with potatoes and mix with a mixer or by hand until thoroughly mixed.
- Place mashed potatoes on a plate and spoon gravy over the top. If using Texas Toast instead of Mashed potatoes just toast your bread and then spoon the gravy mixture over the top.
- Serve Hot.
