  1. Sort and wash beans; place in a large ovenproof Dutch oven. Cover with water to 2 inches above beans, and bring to a boil; cook 2 min. Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour.
  2. Drain beans, and return to pan. Add in 8 c. water and onion; bring to a boil.
  3. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 2 hrs or possibly till beans are tender.
  4. Drain bean mix, and return to pan. Add in barbecue sauce and remaining ingredients; stir well. Cover and bake at 350F for 1 hour.
  5. Yield: 16 servings
  6. (serving size: 1/2 c.).
