  1. Boil beef in water, strain, and wash with hot water. Cold and cut into chunks about 1 1/2 inches square.
  2. Combine beef and ginger with 5 c. of water, cover, and cook for 30 min over a medium flame. Skim the fat from the surface as it cooks. After 30 min, the water should be reduced to half the amount you started with.
  3. Add in soy sauce, sugar, and garlic and cook for 20 min over a low-medium flame. Add in peppers and cook for 5 min, covered.
  4. Throw away the ginger but serve the garlic and peppers with the soy sauce beef. Keep refrigerated for up to a week.
  5. This recipe yields 3 to 4 servings.
  6. Comments: This is sometimes served as a side dish.
