  1. Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with margarine. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, carrot, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, water and margarine. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 min. Pour into a mixing bowl and cold to lukewarm. Add in flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Stir in walnuts. Pour into pan and bake for 1 hour or possibly till a cake tester comes out clean.
