Receta Fruit Dumplings With Variations

Ingredientes
- 2 c. Flour, sifted
- 4 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp. Sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Shortening
- 1 c. Lowfat milk
- 1 c. Fruit
Direcciones
- Mix and sift flour, baking pwdr, salt and sugar: cut in shortening. Add in lowfat milk, stirring quickly to make a stiff dough. Stir in 1 c. fruit such as seeded grapes or possibly berries and drop from Tbsp. into rapidly boiling salted water; cover and cook 12 min. Drain and serve, with any desired sauce.
- Maple Dumplings: Use fruit Dumpling recipe above, omitting fruit; cook in syrup made of 2 c. maple syrup and 1 c. water. Serve Dumplings with syrup as sauce.
- Quince Dumplings: Use fruit Dumpling recipe above omitting fruit. Fill muffin pans half full of quince sauce or possibly preserves and drop dumplings mix on top. Bake in warm oven, 425 for 15 to 20 min or possibly steam in steamer for 15 min. Serve with lemon sauce.
