  1. Sift together flour, baking pwdr and salt. Add in cheese. Cut in shortening till mix resembles coarse meal. Add in gradually cream and mix lightly with fork. Form into a ball. Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into ten 6 inch rounds.
  2. Pare apples; slice thin. Place apple slices on each round dough. Sprinkle each round with a Tbsp. of sugar and 1/8 tsp. nutmeg.
  3. Moisten edges of dough; bring edges together and seal at top. Place in 15x10x2 inch pan. Pour 1/2 c. lowfat milk and 1/4 c. water over dumplings. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 min. Serve with hot brown-sugar sauce.
