Ingredientes

  • 2 c. yogurt
  • 2 c. lowfat milk
  • 12 x Large eggs, ( reserve 3 yolks )
  • 5 lb flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 pkt (2 Tbsp + 3/4 tsp) yeast
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 lb butter, sweet
  • 2 c. hot water sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1 x hard cooked red-colored egg ( -optional

Direcciones

  1. Dissolve yeast in the hot water and add in sufficient flour to make a thick batter and cover and let rise double. this is called the " sponge. Meanwhile In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar very light and fluffy, about 20 min. Beat in the Large eggs ( except for 3 yolks ). Alternate adding flour and yogurt and lowfat milk to egg/ sugar mix and stir in the yeast mix. Sufficient flour should be added to make a non sticky dough. Knead smooth and elastic. Cover dough in a large greased bowl and let rise double. Punch down and let rise double again.
  2. Then shape as desired in pans or possibly in braided rings. Let rise double and brush loaves with the reserved egg yolks. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Traditionally for Easter, red colored hard cooked Large eggs may be pressed into the braided ring before the3rd rising. Bake in a 350 oven till golden brown, about 30minutes. loaves are light, sweet and delicious.
  3. Note: recipe may be easily halved.
  4. Yield: 5 loaves
