Receta Indian spiced rice and peas

Ingredientes
- 2 lbs 8 oz green split peas
- 2 lbs raw brown rice
- 1 gallon water
- 2 lbs 8 oz chopped onions
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 4 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 -4 Tbsp ground cumin
- 8 oz chopped pimento
- 1/4 cup salt reduced soy sauce
- pepper (to taste)
Direcciones
- In a large heavy pot with a tight fitting lid, combine split peas, rice, water, onions, oil, garlic and cumin.
- Bring to a boil, turn heat to very low, cover and cook for 1 hour or until water is absorbed.
- Add 1 - 2 cups more water if necessary.
- Stir in the pimento, soy sauce and pepper to taste.
