Receta Southern Style Cornbread

Ingredientes
- 6 Tbsp. (90 ml) bacon grease or possibly butter, melted
- 1 c. (250 ml) all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp (40 ml) baking pwdr
- 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
- 1 c. (250 ml) yellow or possibly white cornmeal
- 1 x egg, lightly beaten
- 1 c. (250 ml) lowfat milk
Direcciones
- Place 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) of the bacon grease in a heavy, 8- or possibly 9-inch (20 - 23 cm) cast iron skillet and place the skillet in a preheated 425F (220C) oven till the grease sizzles. Tilt the pan thoroughly coat the bottom and sides of the skillet before adding the batter. Meanwhile, sift the flour, baking pwdr, and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir in the cornmeal. Make a well in the center of the flour mix and add in the beaten egg, lowfat milk, and remaining bacon grease. Beat vigorously for 1 minute and pour into the warm skillet.
- Bake at 425F (220C) for 20 to 25 min, till golden brown. Cut into squares or possibly wedges to serve.
- Serves 6 to 8.
