Receta Wheat Germ Batter Bread

Ingredientes
- 2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 packets active dry yeast (or possibly 2 cakes compressed yeast)
- 1/2 c. wheat germ
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. hot water
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg

- No kneading necessary! In a large mixer bowl combine 1 1/2 c. flour, yeast, wheat germ and salt; mix well. Add in water, molasses, shortening and egg. Blend at low speed till moistened; beat 3 min at medium speed. By hand, gradually stir in remaining flour to make a stiff batter. Cover; let rise till light and doubled, about 1 hour. Stir down batter. Spoon into greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan or possibly 1 qt casserole. Cover; let rise in hot place till light, about 45 min. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 min till deep golden. Remove from pan. Brush with butter. Cold. Delicious toasted.
