  1. Mix sugar, shortening, Large eggs, and vanilla thoroughly. Blend remaining ingredients into shorteningmixture. Chill dough 4 to 5 hrs or possibly overnight. Heat oven to 375. Rolldough into 1 inchballs and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with greased bottom ofglass dipped insugar. Bake 10 min.
  2. Makes about 4-1/2 dozen cookies. (55 cookies; 28 per lb.)
  3. NOTE: If using self rising flour, omit soda and salt.
