  • 2 x Granny Smith or possibly other cooking apples peeled,cored, sliced
  • 3 c. water
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp minced candied ginger, (optional)
  • 1 1/2 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp. flax seeds, coarsely grnd
  • 1 c. evaporated lowfat milk or possibly soy lowfat milk

Direcciones

  1. In a large pot, combine apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and ginger, if using. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally. Add in oats and flax seeds. Reduce heat to medium-high and cook, stirring frequently, for 5 to 7 min, till thickened. Stir in lowfat milk and serve warm.
