Receta Asparagus Filled Strata

Ingredientes
- 2 x (9-ounce.) pkgs. frzn Asparagus pcs
- 6 x -10 slices Bread (preferably whole wheat) Butter or possibly Margarine
- 2 1/4 c. shredded Cheddar Cheese (divided)
- 1 c. cooked Ham, coarsely minced (optional)
- 5 x Large eggs
- 2 Tbsp. Onion
- 3/4 tsp Dry Mustard
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Pwdr
- 1/4 tsp Salt Dash Cayenne
- 1 3/4 c. Lowfat milk

- Cook asparagus just till tender; drain and set aside. Lightly butter pcs of bread (remove crusts if you wish) and line a lightly buttered baking dish with them.
- Sprinkle about half the cheese over the bread pcs (return the rest to the refrigerator for now). Top which with ham, if used, and the asparagus. If you have any bread left, arrange it on top.
- Mix together the Large eggs, onion, seasonings, and lowfat milk. Pour proportionately over the layered ingredients, then cover tightly. Chill for several hrs at least - overnightis best. Preheat oven to 350-F degrees; remove strata from fridge and bake for about a half hour. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese over the strata, and continue baking till the strata looks hard at the center and the cheese is delectably melted.
