- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tbsp. melted shortening
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten

- Mix all together till just blended. Pour by scant 1/4 c. on warm griddle, greased if necessary. Turn once to cook other side.
