  1. Saute/fry butter and sliced onions in large soup pot for 1 1/2 hrs. Add in pepper, paprika, bay leaf, flour, wine, and salt. Saute/fry for 10 min. Add in beef bouillon and simmer for 2 hrs. Adjust color with Kitchen Bouquet. Season with salt to taste. Chill overnight. Skim off any fat which has accumulated.
  2. To serve, fill oven-proof bowl with 8 ounce. warm soup. Top with French bread slice and 1 1/2 ounce. Swiss cheese. Place under broiler till cheese is melted and bubbly.
