  1. Pour boiling water over raisins. Let stand 10 min. Drain raisins, reserving 1/4 c. liquid.
  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into a bowl.
  3. Add in shortening, sugar, Large eggs and reserved liquid. Beat till smooth, about 2 min. Stir in raisins and oatmeal. Refrigeratedough at least 1 hour or possibly more.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  5. Push by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake about 15 min.
  6. Cold on a rack.
