Receta Buttermilk Biscuits
The recipe is from the Food Network website and it is FABULOUS! Great for breakfast or at dinner time.... one of my all time favorites!
Ingredientes
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 Tablespoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 2 Teaspoons baking soda
- 1 cup butter, cold cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups buttermilk and some to brush on top
Direcciones
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
- sift flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda all together in a large bowl
- add butter pieces to the dry ingredients and work it in until it resembles coarse crumbs
- once the dough resembles coarse crumbs, make a well in the center of the dough and pour in the buttermilk
- work the flour into the buttermilk until you have a sticky dough (beware that you may have to use more buttermilk to get all the dry ingredients incorporated in the sticky dough)
- pour out the dough onto a floured cutting board
- flour the dough well and pat it out until it's about 1 1/2 inches thick
- using either a biscuit cutter (3" diameter) or a drinking glass, making sure that the edges are floured, cut out biscuits and place on un-greased cookie sheet
- use all the dough, continually reforming the dough and cutting out more biscuits
- brush the tops of the biscuits with buttermilk ( you can also use no calorie Canola Oil spray-- I used it and they still turned out golden brown!)
- bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown
