Receta Danish Apple Pudding
A Danish grandmother’s recipe from the old country, this is a unique way to use your apple stash, and makes a lighter dessert to serve during the holidays. I served this with a Danish-theme dinner party. Recipe is based on one from food.com.
Ingredientes
- 8 large apples, peeled, cored & sliced (I used about 3/4 Granny Smith and 1/4 other varieties)
- 1/2 cup sugar, divided
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 eggs
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup cream (I used half & half)
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- For garnish: prepared whipped cream
Direcciones
- In a large saucepot blend together 1/4 cup of the sugar, butter and water, stirring to dissolve sugar. Heat until mixture begins to simmer, but do not boil. Reduce heat, add apples, cover and simmer stirring occasionally until JUST BARELY tender - do not overcook.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spoon apples and syrup into it.
- Beat eggs until creamy. Add flour, 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon, mixing well. Stir in cream slowly and blend. Pour egg mixture over apples.
- Bake 50 minutes or until custard around apples is set and top is lightly golden brown.
- Remove from oven. Serve warm (or chilled) with whipped cream garnish.
- Yield: 10-12 servings
