This dough has a touch of sugar, so I use it for 9" dessert pies.

Ingredientes

Cost per recipe $1.05 view details
  • 1 1/2 cups AP flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 4 tbs. chilled unsalted butter
  • 4 tbs. chilled Butter Flavor Crisco
  • 3- 4 tbs. ice water

Direcciones

  1. Add the salt and sugar to the flour in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in butter and shortening with a pastry cutter or fork.
  3. Work dough until it resembles coarse cornmeal.
  4. Drizzle in 3 tbs. ice water, add another, if needed, to form the dough into a ball.
  5. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes, or more.
  6. Roll out dough working from the center outwards.
  7. Roll to a diameter of 11 inches.
  8. Place dough in pie pan, trim edges. Press dough edges into desired shape.

  10. Poke holes in the dough with a fork, or place dry beans in the bottom.
  11. Bake until lightly browned, about 8-10 minutes.

This does look easy, but then all crust recipes do.

I was wondering though, Myra, how much sugar to add as it doesn't seem to be listed in the ingredients.

    Thanks

      Hi,

Thanks for alerting me. 2 tsp. sugar added to recipe.

Pie dough is tricky for a lot of people. I finally got the hang of it!

      Regards,

      Myra
