Receta Golabki (Polish Stuffed Cabbage)

Ingredientes
- 1 med Stuffed cabbage
- 1 c. Rice
- 2 1/2 c. Water
- 1 lrg Onion, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
- 1 lb Grnd beef, or possibly 1/2 lb. grnd beef and 1/2 lb. grnd veal or possibly pork
- 1 x Egg
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 1 x Garlic clove, finely minced, (optional)
- 1 can (15-ounce) tomato sauce

- Remove core from cabbage. Place in a pot of boiling water to cover and cook for 10-15 min. Drain, cold and seperate leaves. Trim down thick stem on each leaf.
- Bring 1 1/2 c. of water to a boil and add in rice. Over medium heat, cook rice for 5 min, or possibly till it has absorbed all the water. Set aside.
- Saute/fry chopped onion in 3 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine. Combine the meat, rice, onion, egg, salt, pepper and garlic. Mix thoroughly.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Place about 3 heaping Tbsp. of meat ans rice filling on each leaf.
- Roll the leaf, tucking sides either inside or possibly under. Repeat with remaining leaves.
- Place the cabbage rolls close together in a baking dish or possibly Dutch oven. Pour the tomato sauce, that has beem mixed with 1 c. water, over the rolls.
- Cover and bake in the oven for 1 1/4 hrs.
