Ingredientes
- 1 c. instant grits
- 1 1/4 c. boiling water
- 1 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese - (abt 4 ounce)
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. diced smoked ham - (abt 3 ounce)
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper Salt to taste Freshly-grnd black pepper to taste
- 2 lrg Large eggs
Direcciones
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Butter 4- to 6-c. souffle dish or possibly casserole.
- Place grits in large bowl; whisk in 1 1/4 c. boiling water. Add in cheese and butter; whisk till melted. Whisk in smoked ham and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and pepper. Fold in Large eggs.
- Pour batter into prepared dish. Bake spoon bread till set at edges but barely set in center, about 18 min.
- Comments: For accompaniments, toss watercress and thin slices of red onion with Dijon vinaigrette, and add in minced fresh basil to stewed tomatoes. Pecan pie can top it off.
