Looks like this is missing steps 3-5:
3. Cook over medium-low heat for 3-5 minutes, or until thickened. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
4. Transfer to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap/wax paper so a skin doesn't form. Refrigerate 2+ hours.
5. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions in ice cream machine.
