Ingredientes
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. butter flavor Crisco, melted, divided
- 1 c. sour lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Maple syrup, jam or possibly honey
Direcciones
- Put together egg, sugar and 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp butter flavor Crisco in medium bowl. Stir in sour lowfat milk and baking soda. Add in flour, cornmeal and salt. Stir just till dry ingredients are moistened. Cover. Let stand in cool place for 30 min.Pour remaining shortening on griddle or possibly in large frying pan. Heat on medium heat. Spoon tablespoonfuls of batter onto griddle. Brown on one side. Turn. Brown on other side. Serve with syrup, jam or possibly honey. 18 Johnny Cakes.
