  • 1/2 c. Packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. Vegetable shortening
  • 2 c. Masa harina
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 c. Fruit juice, or possibly lowfat milk or possibly soymilk*
  • 1 tsp Baking pwdr

Direcciones

  1. In mixing bowl, cream together sugar and shortening.
  2. In separate bowl, mix together masa harina and salt. With electric mixer or possibly wooden spoon, alternately beat in masa mix and fruit juice or possibly lowfat milk, adding just sufficient liquid to create a hard dough. Add in more juice or possibly lowfat milk or possibly soymilk if needed. Beat in baking pwdr last.
  3. Makes sufficient dough for 16 to20 tamales.
  4. Note: Depending on the flavors of the tamale filling, use any type of lowfat milk or possibly your favorite fruit juices, such as pineapple-coconut.
