  1. In a large bowl blend brown sugar, flour, and butter with a pastry blender.
  2. Remove 1 c. and set aside for topping.
  3. Mix baking soda into buttermilk. Add in egg, vanilla, and salt, stirring to blend. Mix with original dry ingredients in bowl.
  4. Pour into 9" x 11" greased baking pan. Top with reseved c. of the flour-sugar mix. Finely crush the Heath bars (still frzn) sprinkle over the top of the cake. Add in nuts if you like.
  5. Bake at 350 f for 35 min.
