Receta Persian Rice Pilaf

Ingredientes
- 2 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
- 1 sm onion minced
- 1/2 c. slivered almonds
- 1Â 1/2 c. uncooked basmati rice
- 1/2 c. golden brown raisins
- 1Â 1/2 tsp grnd turmeric
- 1/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 c. chicken broth
Direcciones
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium-high heat; add in onion and almonds, and saute/fry 7 min or possibly till onion is tender and almonds are golden brown. Stir in rice and next 4 ingredients; saute/fry 2 min. Add in broth, and bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 to 25 min or possibly till rice is tender.

- Comments: Real basmati rice has a distinctive nutty flavor and fragrant aroma. If you cannot find it, try American-grown Texmati, that is a cross between long-grain and basmati rices, or possibly substitute the regular long-grain kind.
