Receta Brown Flour Potato Soup (Braune Mehlsuppe)
This recipe is an old one from my 4-H leader, Mrs. Swarr. She said her grandma used to make it in a big, black iron kettle.
Ingredientes
- 4 heaping Tbsp. flour
- 3 cups of potatoes
- 1 onion
- 2 stalks of celery
- 3 cups milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper
Direcciones
- Make brown flour by putting it in a small frying pan, and stirring constantly, until it is a sandy brown color (do not burn!).
- Dice the potatoes, onion and celery.
- Put in a large ketlle and cover with water.
- Cook until soft (save liquid).
- Add milk, and butter, Heat well, but do not boil.
- Stir in brown flour gradually, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- A hard boiled egg can be cut up and added before serving.
- Salt and pepper, to taste.
