  • 6 med. potatoes, cooked & cubed
  • 1 c. sliced onions
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. lowfat milk
  • 4 tbsp. Watkins barbecue sauce concentrate, divided
  • 1 tbsp. Watkins onion flakes
  • 2 teaspoon Watkins beef soup mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/2 pound extra lean grnd beef
  • 6 slices processed American cheese


  1. Spread potatoes in buttered 8 x 12 inch shallow baking pan. Layer onions on top. In a 2 qt saucepan, heat butter. Stir in flour. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 min. Add in lowfat milk, 2 Tbsp. of the barbecue sauce, onion flakes, beef soup mix, black pepper and paprika. Cook, stirring occasionally, till thickened. Pour sauce over potatoes.
  2. Mix beef with remaining 2 Tbsp. barbecue sauce. Form 6 patties. Arrange on top of sauce. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 30 min or possibly till warm and bubbly. Place cheese slices over meat patties. Continue baking for 5 min, or possibly till cheese is melted. Makes 4-6 servings.
