  1. In a saucepan, cook rutabagas in boiling water with 1/2 ts salt over medium heat till tender, about 10 min; drain. Combine brown sugar, ginger, 1/2 ts salt and pepper. Mix well and add in with butter to liquid removed rutabagas.
  2. Stir gently over low heat till sugar melts, 2-3 min. Excellent with ham or possibly pork roast.
