  1. Peel, core and finely slice the apple.
  2. Cream butter and sugar till pale in colour.
  3. Fold in egg.
  4. Add in the lowfat milk and flour alternately, 1/3 at a time, mixing lightly between each addition.
  5. Spoon into a greased 20cm cake tin, arrange overlapping slices of apple in a decorative fashion over the top.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with combined cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Bake at 190C/380F for about 30 min.
  8. Serve with afternoon tea.
